The 13th king of Mewar named Maharana Pratap Singh was born on 9 May 1540 in Mewar, Rajasthan, India. A famous Rajput warrior and of northwestern region Mewar. Pratap Singh is recognized for fighting against the attempts of the Mughal ruler Akbar o conquer his territory. Different from other Rajput rulers, Pratap Singh repeated fight against to submit the Kingdom of Mewar to Mughal ruler Akbar till his last breath. He was the hero of Rajasthan.

Early Life
Maharana Pratap belongs to the Hindu religion and born in a Rajput family. He was the son of Udai Singh and jaiwanta bai. He had three younger brothers Jagmal Singh, Shakti Singh, and Vikram Singh. Also, Pratap had 2 Stepsisters Man Kanwar and Chand Kanwar. His father was King of the Mewar and Pratap lived a royal life.
In 1567, Mewar’s capital, Chittor was surrounded by Mughal forces, at that time the kind of Mewar instead of fighting with Mughal left the capital and shifted to Gogunda with his family.
In 1572, Udai Singh got died and after the death of Udai Singh, rani Dheer Bai Preferred her son jagmal to sued him but senior countries felt that Pratap was a better choice, as the elder son to be king of Mewar.
The Battle of Haldighati
On June 18, 1576, the army of Rajput stood in front of the Mughal army (Under the command of Asaf Khan) at Haldighati. The force of Akbar and Rajput fought together and the Mughals won but they failed to catch Maharana. The place of battle was a narrow mountain pass at Haldighati near Gogunda, nowadays Rajsamand and Rajasthan.
Pratap filled his force with 3000 cavalry and 400 Bhil archers, where the Mughal force was containing around 5000-10,000 men, the fierce battle end in more, then six hours, Maharana Pratap was wounded then he left that place and escape to the hills and lived to fight another day. The victory of Mughal was futile because they were unable to capture Maharana Pratap or any family member.
Reconquest over Mughal
In 1582, Maharana Pratap got back and attacked Mughal’s past at Dewair after a fight the army of Pratap won over Mughal and occupied dewair After one Victory Pratap did not stop, he has gone ahead and occupied all 36 Mughal military outposts in Mewar.
After this big defect, Akbar stopped his action against Mewar. This Victory was described as “Marathon of Mewar”.
In 1585, Akbar moved to Lahore and lived twelve years watching the situation on the northwest. Taking this advantage, Pratap recovered Western Mewar including Gogunda Kumbhalgarh and Udaipur. He also built a new capital, “Chavand” near modern Dungarpur.
Death and legacy
Maharana Pratap got died at the age of 56 dates of the death was on 19 January 1597. He got died as the result of injuries sustained during his incessant struggle against the Mughal Empire.
